The Beth Israel Religious School begins with children in kindergarten through Grade 6. For the Bar/ Bat Mitzvah year they meet independently with the Rabbi and Cantor, and continue through Confirmation in grade 10 in the Community Hebrew School. Jewish holidays are celebrated in the school through assembly programs, worship services, and classroom activities. Parental participation is always welcomed.
The mission of Congregation Beth Israel's Religious School and Hebrew School is to encourage our students :
- To have a strong Jewish identity and to be Jewishly aware of their environment
- To understand the basic precepts of Reform Judaism
- To explore the ways prayer is used in Reform Judaism to express our feelings about God
- To feel a connection with the local Jewish community, the State of Israel and world Jewry
- To have a commitment to mitzvot and Jewish value concepts
- To celebrate and understand the concepts and values of Jewish holidays, rituals and life cycle events
- To have a basic Hebrew liturgical vocabulary and understanding of Reform liturgy
- To conduct the worship service and read Torah as B'nai Mitzvah
